Dr. Rajesh Patel graduated from Medical College of Baroda in 1984, in Gujarat, India. After coming to the United States, he completed a one-year internship rotation in internal medicine at Crozer Chester Medical Center, an affiliate of Hahnemann University Hospital. He then completed his two-year residency in internal medicine at Episcopal Hospital, an affiliate of Temple University Hospital. During his time there, he received the nomination for the best resident of the year. After completing his pulmonary fellowship at UPenn’s Presbyterian Hospital in 1993, he joined Dr. George Lieb at Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Associates, PC.

Since 1995, he has served as a clinical instructor in pulmonary at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, receiving numerous teaching awards throughout his tenure.

Dr. Patel has specialized focuses in lung cancer, interstitial lung disease/IPF, COPD, asthma, pulmonary hypertension, and occupational lung diseases. He is highly trained in advanced procedures such as Electromagnetic Navigational Bronchoscopy (ENB), central and peripheral Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), resection of malignant endobronchial lesions with argon plasma coagulation, placement of endobronchial stents, balloon dilatation of large airways, thoracentesis and placement of pleurx catheters.

For the last 25 years, he has served the communities of Chester and Delaware counties. From 2014-2018, his peers have recognized him as one of the “Top Physicians in Pulmonary Medicine” published in Main Line Today Magazine every year.

In his free time, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with family, playing golf, and cooking.
